Responsibilities:

Responsible for the more complex activities associated with maintaining ledger accounts and for developing financial statements and reports. Develops ad hoc queries to support their activities, coordinates functions with other departments to comply with accounting processing. Responsible for research, preparations of complex PC reports to control project support and other projects assigned. Maintains various activities associated with sub systems and general ledger. May be responsible for credit analysis and legal/collection agency interface functions. Assists manager in development of procedures and controls and utilizes numerous systems in support of their duties. Position may provide functional advice or training to less experienced accounting personnel and may in some cases include supervisory responsibility.

Broad decision making responsibility within company policy, procedures and guidelines. Additional emphasis on contract and project accounting. Requires broad knowledge of company’s activities and systems.

Education:

Bachelors degree required, with emphasis on accounting, business or finance preferred. 5 – 7 years experience in accounting.

Work Experience:

Excellent knowledge of various operating and accounting systems and general administration. Proficient in accounting systems. Must possess skill sets and demonstrate proven experience developing, improving and streamlining processes to meet established goals and objectives. Requires the ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope. All accounting positions require proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Word. Some positions may also include proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications.

Senior Accountant

Provide key financial and business support to the Americas Finance Leader and the USA/?Canada Business Leader.? The controller provides key financial and business support to the Americas Financial Leader.?  This position is responsible for the daily financial activities of our Gulf of Mexico operations and provides assistance and support for Global operations.

Essential Functions

Responsible for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial results.
Responsible for coordination and preparation of forecasts and budgets.
Responsible for internal control implementation, evaluation, and documentation that is compliant with Sarbanes-Oxley legislation and regulation.
Recommend and implement appropriate inventory policies and procedures that are consistent across the Americas.? Maintain a product costing environment that is compliant with Sarbanes-Oxley legislation and regulation.
Manage the monthly closing process, financial analysis, and the preparation of related management reports.
Analyze product cost and margin variances and work cross functionally to address any significant differences.
Assist the Americas Finance Leader and other Leadership Team members with assigned projects
Responsible for the completion of formal and informal information requests from parent company.

Qualifications – Education, Experience, and/?or Training

Bachelor’s degree in Business with specialization in Accounting is required.
CPA and /?or MBA preferred.
Eight plus years of related experience, preferably in a manufacturing/?equipment rental environment.
Demonstrated record of performance in working in both financial and operational business areas is required.
Demonstrated effective supervisory background, with at least five years of experience in directing multi-person staffs is required.

Controller

Prepares income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements, and various other accounting statements and reports. Analyzes financial reports and records, making recommendations relative to the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures. Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records. Conducts special studies and develops or recommends accounting methods and procedures. Instructs or assigns work to bookkeepers and accounting clerks engaged in general accounting activities. Coordinates accounting matters with other departments, locations and divisions. Utilizes computer to input, retrieve or display accounting information.

Level 1
Experience: Typically has up to 3 years professional experience. Can be entry level for employees with Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. OR For legal positions, those with J.D. or LL.B. or equivalent. Knowledge: Knows fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of particular field of specialization.

Responsibilities: Using established procedures and working under immediate supervision, performs assigned tasks. Work is routine and instructions are usually detailed. Little evaluation, originality or ingenuity is required. For legal positions, may prepare briefs and documents or draw up contracts for review and evaluation by others. Usually Reports to: Lead Level

Level 2
Experience: Typically has 3-5 years professional experience. Knowledge: Knows and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of particular field of specialization.

Responsibilities: Under supervision, performs work that is varied and that may be somewhat difficult in character, but usually involves limited responsibility. Some evaluation, originality or ingenuity is required. Usually Reports to: Lead Level

Level 3
Experience: Typically has 5-8 years of professional experience. Fully competent professional – the first career level in the ladder (i.e., it is expected that all competent professionals will reach this level). Knowledge: Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of particular field of specialization to the completion of difficult assignments. For legal positions, specializes in a particular area, such as litigation, tax, patent, etc.

Responsibilities: Usually works with minimum supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters. May be assisted by Entry/Junior or Intermediate Level personnel. Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity. Has appreciable latitude for unreviewed action or decision. For legal positions, acts in advisory capacity, making recommendations which may have an important bearing on the conduct of the organization’s business. Usually Reports to: Lead Level or Middle Management

Level 4
Experience: Typically has more than 8 years professional experience. Management is typically the next higher level. Knowledge: Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of particular field of specialization to the completion of complex assignments. For legal positions, is fully qualified in a particular area, such as in litigation, tax, patent, etc.

Responsibilities: Under general supervision, plans, conducts and supervises assignments. Reviews progress and evaluates results. In legal setting, conducts and supervises broad legal assignments, necessitating ability to evaluate matters which may have a major bearing on the conduct of the organization’s business. Plans and assigns personnel for given projects or tasks. Assists with the review and evaluation of personnel performance. Interprets and applies organization policy. Recommends changes in procedures. Accountant Opening (Houston)

Key Responsibilities:
• Execution of timely and accurate US month end closing, reporting and analysis versus
forecast
• Preparation of quarterly, monthly and weekly forecast information working in close
collaboration with the Americas leadership team
• Design, implementation and monitoring of internal control processes for both finance and
non-finance business processes and rapid communication and action to address areas of
weakness, including balance sheet verification; SOD; Sox process documentation and
execution; budgetary controls; IT system controls; and safeguarding of company assets
• Assessment and planning for the development of the finance organization to
align with business strategy and growth and in a cost effective way
• Identify/initiate/drive/police cost reduction and cash improvement projects to improve the
financial performance of the region
• Ownership of regional cash, treasury, legal and insurance related matters working with
the corresponding corporate functions.
• Play a strong role in the global business transformation and ERP [Oracle] strategic
initiative to ensure that the commercial and regulatory requirements for the Americas are
understood and embraced
• Partner with the Regional Business Leader and management team to challenge and
contribute to operating plans and decisions, and provide financial guidance to the team.
• Preparation of statutory accounts and tax returns and other statutory filing requirements
for all legal entities and operations outside of the USA
• Involvement with future acquisitions including due diligence and integration activities

Key Relationships:
The Americas controller will be the go to person for all financial matters in the region – key
network will include :
• Business Leader and Leadership team
• Finance organization – both HT and sister businesses
• Finance Dept. and Financial Leadership Team
• Any corporate functions including treasury, tax, internal audit, external reporting
• External contacts including external auditors, bankers, insurance, tax advisors

Required Capabilities (describe scope of knowledge and ability of the position):
Qualified accountant with 10 years of relevant experience including :
• Management of a team with remote members
• Demonstrated ability to constructively challenge, influence and persuade commercial and
operations management
• Demonstrated ability to add value to commercial performance
• Demonstrated responsibility financial control and reporting for a complex organisation
including non-US subsidiaries
• Advanced system and analytical skills [Excel/Hyperion]. Oracle experience would be an
advantage.
